Primary Prep Preschool promotes a positive approach to discipline.
We prohibit children from being subjected to discipline which is
severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or
toilieting. Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is
prohibited by all child care personnel. We encourage children to
recognize feelings, consequences, explore alternative solutions and
outcomes and develop self-control. Clear, simple rules are stated in
positive terms
Most discipline problems are prevented through:
a) scheduled and structured daily activities;
c) appropriate expectations;
d) listening to the child.
Appropriate behavior is encouraged through:
a) positive reinforcement;
When inappropriate behaviour occurs, the following discipline
measures will be used:
a) redirect child's activity;
b) explain reason for rule;
c) use of natural and logical consequences;
d) independent play until control is reqained.
Discipline practices are contructive and appropriate to the developmental
age of the child.
