Attendance

Absences disrupt a child's sense of routine and upon their return, children often find it difficult to readjust. Good attendance habits help set a precedent for later school years. All students arriving to or leaving the school must be signed in or out on the appropriate classroom clipboard. Students will only be allowed to leave with persons listed on the child's identification record. Any deviation from your child's normal pick-up routine requires a note or phone call from the parent. Curriculum begins at 9 am.

Withdrawals/Terminations

It is school policy that all withdrawals are discussed with the Director at least two weeks in advance, so that the child is well prepared for the change and the parents have an opportunity for final evaluation. Removing your child from school is just as important as enrolling him/her. He/She has formed attachments to his/her teacher, friends and programs. He/She must be prepared in advance by you and the staff members when these associations and experiences are to be terminated.

Please be advised that if the child is withdrawn without a written two week notice, your account will be charged for two weeks of regular tuition.

Discipline Policy

Primary Prep Preschool promotes a positive approach to discipline. We prohibit children from being subjected to discipline which is severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or toilieting. Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is prohibited by all child care personnel. We encourage children to recognize feelings, consequences, explore alternative solutions and outcomes and develop self-control. Clear, simple rules are stated in positive terms

Most discipline problems are prevented through:

    a) scheduled and structured daily activities;
    b) clear directions;
    c) appropriate expectations;
    d) listening to the child.

Appropriate behavior is encouraged through:

    a) positive reinforcement;
    b) praise;
    c) modeling.

When inappropriate behaviour occurs, the following discipline measures will be used:

    a) redirect child's activity;
    b) explain reason for rule;
    c) use of natural and logical consequences;
    d) independent play until control is reqained.

Discipline practices are contructive and appropriate to the developmental age of the child.
